Welcome to Issue #1 of the RHEV Newsletter!
We thought it would be fitting to start a virtualization newsletter around the introduction of the RHEV 3.0 Public Beta. You're receiving this because you've expressed interest in Red Hat Virtualization before, and we hope you'll enjoy having a more direct flow of information from the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization team, learn about the product with feature and customer spotlights, and have a chance to give us feedback, suggestions and ideas too.
While we're in the final stages of the RHEV 3.0 Beta we'll be reaching out to you about twice a month. After that this will be a monthly newsletter unless you all clamor for more! Is this already too much? Surely not, but just in case, you can unsubscribe from this newsletter here.
We're very excited about RHEV 3.0. In future newsletters we'll be putting the spotlight on different aspects of the more than 50 new features, along with chatting about customers and partners we think you'd be interested in. Anything you particularly want us to cover? Let us know!
RHEV 3.0 couldn't come at a better time. An October IDG survey of IT Executives showed that 71% of IT Executives using VMWare today have either already implemented a dual vendor strategy, or have concrete plans to do so. We'll be chatting more about that in December. We're already seeing a lot of new customers like the Duke Cancer Institute using RHEV in just this way, not only for the RHEL workloads you'd expect but also for some of their core Windows workloads.
RHEV 3.0 has a few core areas of innovation and improvement for you that we like to sum as giving you a feeling of liberation. Freedom from performance barriers, freedom from pricing barriers, and freedom to innovate for yourself should you choose, all while delivering a superior balance of enterprise virtualization features, performance and scalability :
- Industry leading performance. Scale up and scale out performance to die for, and no pricing taxes, even if your VMs use 2TB of memory.
- Unshackled from Vendor Lock-In. Never fear vendor lock-in again. The management layer is now fully open and flexible and based on RHEL and JBOSS for easy set-up and extension.
- Enhanced Management and Integration. A host of improvements and innovations to make managing your virtualization environment easy and flexible.

Want one more reason to sign up for the Beta? Each week participants of the Beta receive exclusive invitations to "Chat with Chuck" the lead for RHEV Marketing, and others from the RHEV team. These weekly sessions usually have a theme, offering greater insight into RHEV 3.0, and include time for open questions and comments--a chance to have your most intriguing questions answered and to advocate for features you'd like to see in future versions of RHEV.
We look forward to hearing your ideas, and sharing more about RHEV with you all in our next issue.
Best wishes,
Chuck, Navin, John, Kevin, Eddie, Simon and the rest of the RHEV team
